LEED ® Certification

The net cost of owning a LEED home is comparable to a conventional home.

What is LEED ®?

Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) is a rating system by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) used to promote the design and construction of high-performance green homes. These homes are constructed using sustainable, eco-friendly material and are designed to use less energy, water and natural resources; create less waste; and promote healthier and more comfortable living for its occupants. According to the USGBC, benefits of owning an LEED-certified home include:

Lower energy and water bills
Reduced greenhouse gas emissions
Less exposure to mold, mildew and other indoor toxins

GFC is well experienced in renovating, designing and building contemporary residences and commercial buildings that prepare its owners to obtain LEED certification. The Company advises and coordinates the LEED certification process from start to finish.

EnergyStar ®

"Energy Star buildings are selling for an average of $61 per square foot more than their peers, while LEED buildings command a remarkable $171 more per square foot” according to a survey conducted by CoStar Group in March 2008.

What is EnergyStar ®?

Guidelines set forth by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) state a typical EnergyStar qualified home includes:

An Efficient Home Envelope, with effective levels of wall, floor and attic insulation properly installed, comprehensive air barrier details, and high-performance windows
Efficient Air Distribution, where ducts are installed with minimum air leakage and are effectively insulated
Efficient Equipment for heating, cooling, and water heating
Efficient Lighting, including fixtures that earn the EnergyStar
Efficient Appliances, including EnergyStar qualified dishwashers, refrigerators, and clothes washers

Buildings that have earned the Energy Star label use an average of almost 40% less energy than average buildings, and emit 35% less carbon. Many of efficiency upgrades (like new windows and sensor lighting) can quickly pay for themselves in energy cost savings.

GFC is well experienced in designing and building contemporary, residences and commercial building that prepare its owners to obtain Energy Star credits. The Company advises and coordinates the entire process from start to finish.
